Our Interview Philosophy
At Ellucian, we recognize that interviewing is a two-way street. While we're learning about your experience, strengths, and aspirations, you're also learning about us - who we are, how we work, and whether this is a place where you can grow and thrive. That mutual discovery is at the heart of how we design our process. Here's what you can expect:
Our interview process is designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths — how you think, solve problems, collaborate, and contribute. We use a globally consistent approach grounded in key competencies, which helps us understand both your past experience and your future potential.
Our values are the foundation of how we work, and they play an important role in our interviews. We’re looking for people who not only bring strong skills but who align with our culture and the way we lead, innovate, grow, humanize, and transform.
Depending on the role, you may be asked to complete exercises, solve problems, or walk us through real-world examples of your work. These are designed to reflect the kind of challenges you’d take on at Ellucian. Whether technical, functional, strategic, or collaborative, you will have the opportunity to showcase your experience in a way that’s meaningful and relevant.
We know how important it is to feel informed and supported during a hiring process. Our goal is to make sure you know where you stand at every stage, from application through to final decisions. We believe in closing the loop and respecting the time and effort you’ve invested with us.
We know interviewing can be daunting, and joining a new company is a big moment in your career. That’s why we’ve designed our process to ensure you feel respected, prepared, and empowered every step of the way to make the best decision for you.

AI in Interviews
Balancing innovation with human touch: Our approach to AI in the interview process
At Ellucian, we believe in the power of technology to enhance how we work, connect, and grow, including during the hiring process.
Of course, AI can help you prepare, but our hiring process is human-led. Real people review applications, lead interviews, and make decisions. Use AI if you wish, but let your voice and personality shine—because we’re hiring people, not prompts.

Interviewing is a conversation, not an interrogation. Relax and let your passion and enthusiasm for what you do shine through. Come prepared with thoughtful questions, and if they’re answered along the way, great! Reference them at the end, it shows preparation, engagement, and active listening—qualities that always stand out.

When preparing for your interview, highlight not just your activities but your key achievements to show impact. Research the company—its website and social channels offer insight into values, culture, and recent updates. During the interview, express genuine enthusiasm for the role. Afterward, show engagement by asking thoughtful questions about challenges and responsibilities. These steps demonstrate preparation, curiosity, and a strong interest in contributing to the organization’s success.

As a recruiter, I encourage you to ask about responsibilities, success metrics, and growth paths. Request examples of day-to-day tasks or recent projects—it shows curiosity and ensures alignment. Be open about relocation, compensation, or personal priorities; honesty helps us advocate for you. In India, where work and life often intersect, clarity allows us to find the right fit—not just for the company, but for you as a whole person.
