Job Responsibilities & Requirements


  • Setting and managing project deadlines
  • Coordinating with infrastructure, database and functional teams
  • Ensure the project is implemented within contractual obligations and meets SLA requirements
  • Lead “Current State and Future State” assessments around functionality and/or processes; includes white boarding, utilizing MS Visio and determining business improvement areas
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels within the organization through the use of effective customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to respond to changing business needs, ambiguity, and manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent responsibilities
  • Ability to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills and advanced systems analysis
  • Systems audit and risk assessment experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and partners at all levels
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Board understanding of industry recommended practice for business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency management
  • Develop complex technical project plans within a specific budget with a Project Manager. Identity the following for each task within the project plans: resources, dependencies, durations, and priority/criticality
  • Monitor and document the technical aspects of ongoing projects and identify, document, and mitigate significant technical project risks proactively 
  • Coordinate technical activities and ensure all responsible parties are properly informed. This would include working with the Ellucian Cloud Services team, DBAs, and other technical teams.
  • Assist client Infrastructure Team to provide appropriate (and secure) server/application access instructions for all consultants. Maintain this over time as new servers/products are implemented.
  • Assist client Infrastructure Team on hardware and software management, along with instance management
  • Provide recommended backup and recovery plans for Ellucian applications and Oracle databases
  • Provide architecture details of Ellucian applications, including the integration of each application
  • Assess options, risks and cost-benefit analyses as they pertain to data architecture, security, and other technology issues
  • Facilitate the work of and provide support to the Integration Engineers, Data Migration Leads and Data Migration consultants
  • Prepare operational strategies for client go-lives - Technical Production Transition Planning
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of technology solutions and capabilities to ensure appropriate alignment of business objectives.
  • Design/develop complex ERP system architecture design via well-known tools such as Microsoft Visio
  • Consult on recommended practices for system and application management
  • Review and validate technical installation, configuration and other technical reports for accuracy, completeness, and consistent professional presentation.
  • Develop a technical roadmap that maps to the client’s future state
  • Promote technical standards, guidelines, recommended practices and quality control measures for enabling and implementing software systems.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training on basic Banner and database concepts
  • Document current, intermediate, and future state technical architectures that support the client’s vision and mission
  • Outline technical recommendations and identify technological requirements that support client educational and business goals


Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical related field required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated skills as a technical lead
  • Agile project management
  • Strong diverse technical background
  • Ability to effectively communicate at various levels within the institution, from executive leadership to end users
  • Demonstrated aptitude for logical application of problem solving techniques. Ability to deconstruct complex technical issues to identify root cause issues
  • Ability to develop strategic implementation plans for complex IT projects
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner is preferred, including Banner 9 and Ellucian Ethos Integration
  • Identity Management, SSO and Account Provisioning experience is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
  • Strong project management, organizational, and client facing skills
  • Experience with Oracle 11g/12c databases in a Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux environment
  • Experience with implementing large ERP systems
  • Experience with designing and architecting complex ERP systems (hardware/network)
  • Experience with database and system backup and recovery
  • Experience with web application deployments and management, Tomcat and SSL is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Effective technical writing skills
  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a corporate credit card and a driver's license.  Passport required for travel to international clients
