Ellucian is seeking a dynamic, technical manager to lead a group of motivated software developers, architects and QA engineers in the development of multi-tenant cloud solutions built on Amazon Web Services. The team builds and maintains Ellucian’s Ethos Platform, which consists of various services which facilitate the integration of higher-education software applications deployed at hundreds of Universities around the world. The Ethos platform handles hundreds of tenants and has processed over 1 billion messages yet there is still so much growth for the platform. Be part of the team that powers Ellucian’s business!

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Working with Product Management and senior leadership, establish team priorities
  • Working with senior leadership and peers in the R&D organization, evaluate dependencies and coordinate delivery
  • Guide software architecture, design, cloud deployments, and devops pipeline
  • Embrace and evangelize change - create, implement, and refine team processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment
  • Support customer adoption of new solutions; address and resolve customer escalations
  • Engage in continuous learning and adoption of new concepts, technologies and functionality
  • Actively participate within agile development ceremonies (sprint reviews, planning, scrums)
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, Developers and UX Designers to determine the most intuitive user interface
  • Lead technical initiatives in the team
  • Be the front runner for cross-team collaborations
  • Establish team priorities and guide design efforts that result in designs that satisfy all functional, performance, elasticity, and quality requirements
  • Understand and apply industry best practices and trends when appropriate
  • Conduct interviews and participate in hiring decisions
  • Mentor and coach new team members
  • Represent the company with clients and at industry events

 

Requirements:

 

  • 7-10 years of professional experience
  • Proven experience with cross-team facilitation and coordination for technical design and discussions
  • Degree in computer science, software engineering or similar course of study.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with advanced capability to quickly learn, and work with new technologies and complex technical environments
  • Experience working on cloud platforms such Amazon Web Services (preferably), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform; certification preferred
  • Expert in Agile software development practices such as XP, Lean Agile, Scrum, or Kanban 
  • Experience with DevOps tools and processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with multiple architectures (e.g., monolithic, service-oriented, event-driven, microservices, serverless)
  • Demonstrated ability for critical thinking and problem solving
  • Demonstrated skills in planning and project delivery
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and changing priorities
