About the opportunity

This position will report to the Company’s Sr. Vice President and General Counsel.  Qualified candidates will have 10 – 15 years of experience working in a corporation or government affairs agency, with particular focus on issues concerning post-secondary education.  Experience must include interfacing with US, state and local government officials; managing lobbyists; working with outside government relations and corporate communications firms.  Experience as a staffer for senior US Government or state officials is a big plus. Individual must be a self-starter, and able to work across the business with teams from Legal, Compliance, Communications, Marketing and Sales.  The person filling this role will have daily interaction with executive management team in providing guidance and work product related to communications, corporate positioning, crisis management/communications and general business strategy.

Elevate company’s profile and reputation in support of business initiatives

Develop and lead strategies that effectively communicate and advocate for Ellucian’s priorities with policymakers, influencers and other key internal and external targets.

Oversee government affairs planning, including agency management.

Provide strategic counsel to executives across company regarding business announcements, reputational concerns and the impact of public policy.

Collaborate and align with:  Other functional teams and key stakeholders across business; communications outlets and channels; analysts and trade associations. 



What you will bring

Bachelor’s degree at minimum; graduate or professional degree (Masters, JD or Ph.D.) preferred.

Candidates with multi-lingual and international experience preferred.Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
