Ellucian is searching for a transformational agile leader that will guide, unify, and scale agile practices across our large and distributed Research and Development and Product Management organizations.  Key to this transformational role is the ability to foster innovation, faster time-to-market, higher productivity, and transparency. This leader will support our agile teams and leadership with the right knowledge, tools, process, and professional development opportunities so they can apply agile to its full potential. Ellucian offices in Northern Virginia or Greater Philadelphia are preferred locations for this role although remote candidates will be considered.  Some travel between Ellucian offices will be essential, especially at the outset with as much as 20-30% travel anticipated.  


Key Expectations:


  • In collaboration with teams and leaders across the organization, establish, deploy, and continuously improve Ellucian's approach to scaling agile.
  • Work closely with the product management organization to effectively engage them in relevant agile practices and culture.  
  • Ensure alignment across the cohesive product team (R&D and Product Management) with a prioritized backlog to deliver the most important new capabilities and solutions.  
  • Ensure agile feedback cycles occur across the product team, enabling a continuous review, prioritization and course correction as key parts of the development process. 
  • Provide expert direction and guidance while working hands-on with various agile teams to continuously improve practices and enhance agility.
  • Leverage knowledge and experience with various agile tools such as JIRA, VSTS, and others.    
  • Improve specific agile practices such as user story development across the organization. 
  • Serve as an agile evangelist across Ellucian. 
  • Recommend metrics, tools, and/or techniques for enhanced transparency and operational efficiency.  


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 


  • Experience in a variety agile software development roles, and various approaches such Scrum and Kanban, as well as scaling methods such as Large Scale Scrum (LeSS) and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). 
  • Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization and foster a willingness to change and a culture of ongoing improvement. 
  • At least 10 years experience in technology roles with at least 5 years focused on agile practices. 
  • At least 2 years experience focused on scaling agile with demonstrated success deploying and supporting scaled agile.   
  • At least 2 years of agile coaching experience. 
  • A keen understanding and interest in software development and lean and agile practices. 
  • Ability to cultivate relationships across the organization to better understand Ellucian's needs and specific challenges to unifying and scaling agile.  
  • Ability to influence key decision makers across the organization 
  • Willingness and ability to work hands-on with teams deploying and improving lean and agile practices   
  • Agile certifications such as the CSM, CSPO, RTE, etc are a plus
