The Manager, User Group Conferences is responsible for working with multiple departments in Ellucian, while partnering with customers acting as user-led conference organizers to strategically coordinate the regional user-led conferences.  This candidate would coordinate the Ellucian speakers along with aid in presentation development and topic selection for the user group conferences.  Additionally, this position would deepen customer relationships and engagement, fostering the relationships with customers that run conferences for Banner, Colleague, and PowerCampus in North America, supporting them to perform at the highest level.    

The Manager, User Group Conferences acts as the business owner of the North American regional user group conferences, the multiple conferences that happen throughout the year, run by customers.  This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, broad written and verbal communications experience, and exceptional organizational skills.  



  • Create a business plan that details the User Group development process including timetables, scheduling and required inputs from key internal partners and User Group Organizers/Organizing committees.
  • Secure market feedback from each the Field Sales organization and the User Group Committee/Organizer (two separate inputs required)
  • Integrate field and market input along with Ellucian goals and objectives in recommending sessions, formats and topics for each User Group
  • Work with all User Group Organizers to align their planning and development cycles with a timetable that permits final sessions, speakers, topics, session length and format to be confirmed 10-12 weeks (minimum) in advance of the User Group
  • Develop plan for measurement of onsite booth activities at each User Group as applicable.
  • Design process for optimizing Ellucian leadership, Product Management, Customer Success Solutions Consulting, and Professional Services in participating in User Groups
  • Coordinate master calendar of User Group events, align with Marketing calendar. Maintain annual Event Marketing calendar
  • Correlate session counts (sessions to be delivered by Ellucian) to audience size
  • Ensure that accurate templates and presentations are developed and delivered at each User Group.
  • Align customer requests for presentations with Ellucian topics and presenter resources in ways that drives Ellucian’s strategy message and priorities as well as enhance the overall customer relationship
  • Balance and blend Ellucian speakers between senior leadership and more junior up and comers.
  • Coordinating and managing Ellucian resources who will deliver presentations at user conferences and maintaining a shared folder of presentations so that a consistent message is delivered by Ellucian
  • Managing user group funding, budgeting and grant payment according to articulated guidelines.
  • Understanding of Ellucian solutions and presentation offerings and articulating those to customers at a high level
  • Identify the best presentations and presenters from user groups throughout the year and encourage those customers to submit the presentations for Ellucian Live
  • Participate in User Group planning meetings at Ellucian Live.
  • Create new content for and publish quarterly User Group newsletter
  • Other Industry event and/or internal event assignments as required

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • 3-5 years B2B event content development experience, preferably in technology or higher education
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to develop and execute on detailed project plans
  • Resourceful and unafraid to take full ownership of event experience
  • Agile; ability to move quickly and collaborate across teams and roles to get things done
  • Comfort with data and analytics to help drive decision making
  • Understands the events impact on the business; has strong financial event acumen
  • Demonstrable skills in strategic planning and execution of marketing initiatives 
  • This position requires very strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills. 
  • Creative, high energy, innovative, proactive, and resourceful. 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills – must have both an interest and skill in analyzing and making meaning out of data and translating that in to actionable changes.
  • Comfortable working in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Travel: 20-30% travel required
