The Colleague Consultant is a role that provides advice and assistance to institutions to help them improve their business processes, align business processes with functionality available in the Colleague ERP, resolve existing ERP issues and help maximize the use and value of the Colleague ERP. The consultant delivers these services through a combination of travelling to client sites and working remotely utilizing video conferencing technology. The Colleague Consultant may also be asked to assist to manage implementation projects and coordinate activities. In some instances Colleague Consultants are asked to assist in the development of operational and status reports.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • This position requires up to 80% travel
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague ERP is a MUST
  • Consultants will manage and review project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing administrative computing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.
  • Develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules and plans as required.
  • Prepare project status reports and keep management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
  • Coordinate and respond to requests for changes from original specifications.
  • Monitor project results against technical specifications.
  • Develop quality assurance test plans and directs quality assurance testing
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
  • Create test transactions and run tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications.
  • Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
  • Train end users or technical support staff to use programs.
  • Maintain module security planning and management
  • Conversion planning and testing
  • Support Ad hoc reporting needs
  • Develop procedural and change management documentation.


Required Skills:


  • Ability to travel up to 80%
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague required.
  • Strong SQL skills required
  • Strong knowledge of Higher Education business processes
  • Proven ability to manage many projects
  • Strong process improvement and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal


Desired Skills:


  • Experience with UniData RDMS desired
  • Proficiency in Oracle desired
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with Colleague Advance a plus
  • Experience developing and customizing programs using Ellucian Colleague Studio
