Description of Job Duties:

  •     Network Manager serves as a team leader and technical backstop for all network, telephony, WiFi, network security, and telecommunications enterprise infrastructure support and services.
  •     Responsible to ensure the stable operation of network connectivity for the university. This includes but not limited to planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, support, and optimizing all local, wide area network, Internet, hardware and virtual servers, firewalls, wired and wireless, server and storage, associated software, and communication links.
  •     Establish and maintain strong working relationships with The University President, Cabinet Members, Faculty/Staff, Students, IT Team, and Vendors.
  •     Ensure effective and open communication with other departments regarding the network services provided by information technology staff.
  •     Plan, prepare, and oversee million plus dollar IT budgets inclusive of forecasting, ROI calculation and documentation, and operational expense management.
  •     Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure value-added products and services.
  •     Performs other job related duties as required

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  •     Bachelor’s Degree and 5 – 7 equivalent years of experience showing advancement, which includes management and/or leadership within Enterprise Cisco Networking environment and general higher education industry experience.
  •     Strong understanding of Cisco Networking, LINUX, Wi-Fi technologies, Telecommunications (Cisco VoIP Phone Systems), Windows/Active Directory, O365, and multi-factor network authentication methodologies.
  •     Solid organizational skills, ability to work with staff, faculty, and administration at all skill and management levels.
  •     Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  •     Is able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  •     Technical backstop for small team of networking resources


Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  •     Cisco CCNP/CCDP; or equivalent network management experience required
  •     Experience supporting Cisco and Palo Alto firewall security solutions highly desired
  •     Experience supporting Cisco IP Telephony, Zoom, and A/V solutions highly desired
  •     Experience supporting high capacity WAN, redundant Internet links w/ BGP, higher education research networks (Internet 2); a plus
  •     LINUX Redhat server experience a plus
  •     Knowledge of supporting network infrastructure for Ellucian Banner ERP Suite a plus
