Position Responsibilities:


The Banner Senior Systems Consultant is responsible for the successful delivery of high-quality application support services for customers working with the Ellucian Banner. This individual is responsible for providing functional support of installed Ellucian Banner Human Resource, Banner Payroll and/or Banner General module.


The successful candidate will add value by:

 

  • Facilitating and adding value to the client's use of the Ellucian Banner
  • Facilitating business process review and providing business process analysis and insight into best practice methodologies and be capable of providing quality end-user consultation and support
  • Providing project management, leadership, needs assessment, integration services and the ability to develop a strong working relationship with the client
  • Maintaining all tracking and issue logging in the tracking system
  • Evaluating and adjusting where appropriate, the Ellucian Banner setup tables relative to the client business practices
  • Providing sufficient business process and change management documentation
  • Providing leadership for functional work groups enabling them to stay on time and on task
  • Preparing functional/technical specifications for reporting, interfaces and customizations
  • Providing guidance in the formulation and coordination of an end-user training strategy, and when appropriate, deliver such training
  • Providing direction in developing testing methodology and test scripts for utilization during upgrades and patch application
  • Demonstrating progressive practices, displays flexible approach in the workplace, embracing changes and opportunity
  • Having the ability to deal successfully with multiple priorities at the same time in a calm manner
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and should have the ability to work alone or/and in a team environment with attention to the details
  • Writing and maintaining documentation of changes to be applied to the programs and specification
  • Escalating issues appropriately and promptly according to the chain established at the Client site, to provide timely support and issue resolution
  • Designing onscreen user interfaces, reports and interfaces with other systems
  • Reviewing, creating and maintaining the user and technical documentation related to the    Ellucian Banner
  • Providing functional/technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems or questions with programs
  • Revising program documentation for corrections, enhancements or system environment changes through accepted project management processes
  • Coordinating with other programmers about program revisions and providing project leadership
  • Aligning with the Company and the Client’s strategic policies and mission
  • Keeping abreast of the advances in technology, Banner enhancements and functional processes as they relate to the client.

 

Position Requirements:        

 

  • Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or at least 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of Ellucian Banner Human Resources and Payroll modules.
  • Knowledge of SQL and troubleshooting skills to include system auditing,identifying issues and the initiative/ability to resolve the resulting Banner issues within Banner functionality and/or the related processes.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with the clients, co-workers, vendors and the public are required.
  • Strong business process analysis and improvement experience. Ability to define astute functional specifications for modifications or corrections of existing processes, data structures, interfaces with other Banner modules or 3rd party applications or systems for example federal systems and the data exchanges


Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

 

  • Experience with working in the Office of Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits or related services
  • Experience with relational database example Oracle and tools including, Toad/SQL Developer, SQR strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge or experience with Evisions products including Argos, FormFusion etc
  • Working knowledge of E-print and Automic, formerly UC4 Scheduler software
  • Familiarity with data warehouse architecture and concepts is desirable
  • Some knowledge of Banner and Ellucian Workflow is preferred
  • Knowledge or experience with MS Project, MS-Office and Visio is a definite plus
  • Application consulting experience is highly desired
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership and direction for the implementation process
  • Ability to work closely with team members and/or alone
