Purpose of the role

In-house lawyer position with Ellucian, a world-leading provider of administrative technology solutions to universities.  Joining an established commercially minded in-house Legal team, the candidate will be based in Ellucian’s Milton Keynes office and report to Ellucian’s Assistant General Counsel for E2AP (Europe to Asia-Pacific). The role will be to provide legal support, advice and guidance primarily to the Ellucian global partner team. 

           

Primary Responsibilities

The main responsibilities will include providing template contracts and negotiating and drafting agreements in relation to Ellucian’s Channel Partner Program.

The role also includes negotiating, drafting and reviewing licensing and purchasing agreements, ensuring compliance and assistance with other general legal and transactional matters as and when they arise.

 

Selection Criteria – Professional skills

  • Qualified to practice law in one or more jurisdictions
  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification practice experience, with a preference given to in-house lawyers or appropriate experience in a law firm
  • Strong channel partner transaction experience
  • Knowledge of legal issues affecting software companies globally required, such as data privacy issues, Cloud and SaaS, IP protection
  • Working knowledge of and experience with anti-bribery laws such as UK Bribery Act and US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act

 

Selection Criteria – Soft skills

  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent English language oral and written communication skills.
  • Confident and comfortable relaying legal advice and providing support to a variety of stakeholders. 
  • Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to manage time and prioritise tasks to deliver when working under pressure
  • Experience negotiating contracts in multiple jurisdictions a plus and a second language such as Spanish or Arabic would be particularly useful
