Ellucian is seeking experienced Senior Accountant to work collaboratively with the both the Corporate Accounting team and other internal groups. You will conduct research, analysis, development and reporting for both audit purposes and internal financial reporting.  The Senior Accountant must have strong analytical skills and communication skills.  In this role you will be required to work both independently and collaboratively with team members to ensure our financial ledgers are accurately stated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in day to day general ledger activities, general ledger maintenance, and peer review the work of other departmental staff on as needed basis
  • Prepare monthly standard/non-standard journal entries in collaboration with other departmental staff to ensure an accurate and timely month-end close.
  • Ensure the completion of the corporate consolidated balance sheet analysis ensuring reconciling items are clearing timely, recommending any account adjustments and presenting analysis to Senior Corporate Accounting Manager on a monthly basis.
  • On monthly basis liaison with FPA counterparts to ensure financial results are understood.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly variance analytics of financial statement accounts.
  • Support the companies’ efforts to modernize higher education by assist in the processing of contract modifications to current contracts.
  • Support quarterly and annual external audit as needed
  • Drive continuous process improvements and innovations within the department as well cross-functionality
  • Perform multiple tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in the computer software/information technology industry is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of US GAAP accounting concepts
  • Business experience and financial or analytical background with understanding of contractual terms and conditions
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Advanced proficiency in Access
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven, energetic, and self-motivated. Highest standards of ethics, accuracy and precision; highly organized. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage various tasks with potentially competing priorities.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and with employees of the organization in an open office setting and in a collaborative environment.
