The successful candidate is responsible for managing the day-to-day work activities of the Texas Connection Consortium (TCC) Shared Service Center. This development team provides full software development lifecycle support for Texas specific customizations to Ellucian software products and manages delivery to TCC consortium members.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Interacts closely with team members and clients on a daily basis to facilitate delivery of software projects.
  • Provide guidance and leadership for the team's sprint development goals.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to individual team members as needed to facilitate an environment for learning and growth.
  • Manage definition and capturing of data to provide adequate measures of progress on delivery goals and quality.
  • Provide regular updates to the TCC Executive Board and the TCC Leadership Council on TCC Service Center delivery projects.
  • Work closely with numerous product teams to coordinate support for initiatives, upgrades, technical currency.
  • Work closely with Sales team and TCC Contract Administrator on any aspect of the contract between Ellucian and TCC - this includes billing issues, invoices, expense reporting, contract budgeting and planning.

 

Requirements:

 

  • 5+ years in a software development environment in a technical development role.
  • 2+ years leading and managing a software development team in a direct manager capacity.
  • All phases of software development.
  • Agile practices as part of a software development team.
  • Ability to communicate easily with technical staff and functional staff, providing guidance on adherence to best practices, standards, and quality.
  • Ability to discuss technical topics related to software development technologies: Java, Spring Framework, object-oriented design, GIT, SVN, RDBMS, JSON, HTML, CSS, Groovy/Grails
  • Ability to lead, engage, and influence CIO/CTO level leadership at TCC member institutions and work collaboratively to define strategy.
  • Collaboration skills and work in a highly distributed team environment.

 

Desired Skills / Knowledge / Experience

 

  • Ellucian Banner software products.
  • Higher Education industry.
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles and concepts in order to support contract planning, budgeting, income and expenses.
