The Business Analyst engages as proactive partner within the institution’s end user community, namely in the areas of reporting, assessments, instructional technology, institutional research.   We are focused on enabling our customers to have a great experience when using Jenzabar products.  To that end, we embody a mindset of continuous improvement as we act as the single source of truth on ERP systems deployed, help to optimize day-to-day operational execution to improve customer service & delivery, guide business process innovation, and drive transformational initiatives.


Business Analysts are customer facing resources that provide expert advice on learning data as it relates to teaching and learning.   We partner with the College to deliver high quality, innovative, and effective analytics to formulate relevant research questions, use data to inform decision making, and set goals and strategic direction. Internal, external, and trended data will be used to improve course development. The Business Analyst works collaboratively within the Ellucian Institutional Services team to develop materials that equip the College with the data and reporting they need to make data-driven decisions about the student learning experience.  




•    Coordinate all aspects of designing, completing, and preparing research reports developed in collaboration with the faculty, division deans, and the vice president of academic affairs (VPAA – Provost) to study student learning outcomes at the course, program, and institutional level for both credit-bearing and non-credit academic areas of the college.

•    Manage the learning outcomes assessment (LOA) office, extensive contact with faculty, collaboration with other college units/offices, and collaboration with other colleges to facilitate the acquisition of benchmarking information for approved projects.  

•    Manage assessment projects, data collection and file editing activities, complex data analysis, developing reports on findings, and working with faculty to ensure that the information is properly interpreted and used.

•    Evaluate departmental needs based on national requirements.

•    Create processes to provide the data needed for departments to remain in compliance.

•    Retrieve and provide data for Departmental Faculty for all annual national reports to maintain certification.

•    Maintain the Tk20 Assessment Systems Solutions Platform, as well as providing support for Tk20 and the Student Information Systems, Jenzabar EX.   

•    Communicate new requirements/requests, problems, enhancements to Tk20 support team and Tk20 Product Consultant.

•    Negotiate development of new reports with the Tk20 support team and Tk20 Product Consultant.

•    Customize Standard Operating Procedures for student and faculty usage of Tk20.

•    Document Standard Operating Procedures for administrator usage of Tk20.

•    Document report writing schedule for institution wide use of Tk20.

•    Collaborate in the preliminary inventory of the development of data collection and management processes.

•    Assist in the development of strategic processes for data collection and data management.

•    Identify and develop the processes for the institution usage of multiple data gathering systems.

•    Support research projects (typically program review, learning outcome assessment, nursing accreditation, CTE compliance, etc.) by preparing specific datasets and samples in collaboration with stakeholders in different areas.

•    Develop relationships with internal stakeholders in order to advocate for and advance best-practices in data services, data preparation and information dissemination by leveraging strong communication skills and subject matter knowledge.

•    Complete ad-hoc research, data collection, analysis, reports, and presentations using standard research and statistical methods.

•    Actively engage in the scholarship of learning assessment, attend conferences and educational workshops. Research and identify new trends and techniques as applicable.

•    Attention to detail while working on multiple projects with competing deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.

•    Promote best practices in assessment strategies and tools.
•    Provide expert advice to faculty and instructional staff.

•    Promotes increased understanding of and support for the use of instructional technologies at the college.

•    Administer and support campus wide course management tools, instructional technologies, and supporting academic systems.

•    Act as a technical mentor and guide to faculty in the development and maintenance of new technology-based curricula and in applying technology to the instructional processes.

•    Act as a resource to lead faculty in the management of web-based courses, develop and implement site based training programs, and support faculty in the production of courseware and troubleshooting problems.

•    Contribute in the design and implementation of active learning spaces, develop assessment programs and participate in grant and research projects that include conducting faculty and student surveys and data analysis.

•    Create and disseminate faculty communications, perform system administration functions, and continuously research advances in web based academic and instructional technologies.

•    Contribute to the success of all distance learning initiatives by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm and superior customer service.

•    Excellent communications skills and a strong grasp of educational technology related applications are of critical importance.

•    Prepare and produce required reports and associated documentation as assigned, participate in committees, focus groups, and project teams as assigned, maintain up to date functional and technical knowledge of learning technologies and best practices, and other duties as assigned.
