Ellucian’s Executive Director of Course Design and Development will report to the appropriate Client senior leader (to be defined by Client within the academic vertical: i.e. President, Provost or Vice President of Academic Affairs) and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of course design and development.


The Executive Director of Course Design and Development will oversee the Client instructional designers (if any) and operations related to course development as well as Ellucian staff working in these areas.  Responsibilities of the Executive Director include: instructional design and online support for faculty involved in online learning design; and overseeing the planning and design of online courses.  Further, the Executive Director will work with Ellucian’s Academic Online Services to allocate Ellucian resources to the engagement.  Specific responsibilities of the Executive Director include the following:


  • Preparing an Implementation Plan in collaboration with the associate provost to outline all engagement-related activities following execution of this Agreement.  The plan will outline reporting relationships, an organizational structure, and include a prioritized task and project list.
  • Preparing a Project Plan and Staff Assignments to establish timeframes, priorities, responsibilities and resource levels to accomplish engagement objectives.  The Project Plan will include assignments and responsibilities for Ellucian staff and Client staff. 
  • Providing leadership, management, knowledge of effective practices and support activities consistent with maintaining quality and operational continuity.
  • Establishing clear communication lines and working relationships with the Client’s leadership team and staff within the Schools to provide continuous support to their respective service functions in online course development, support and success. 
  • Documenting accomplishments and results on a regular basis to demonstrate progress towards the Client’s goals and success criteria.
  • Providing leadership in the development of unique and/or innovative solutions for specific Client needs and contracted services.
  • Identify and execute on training and development for client staff.
